'Passionate, angry, empowering and beautiful' LOUISE BEECH, author of Nothing Else
Before Gods and mortals, there were The Fates . . .
You've heard the legends: three sisters born out of Nyx's darkness, destined to weave the lives, and deaths, of humankind for eternity.
But immortality is a heavy burden, and Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos are captivated by the gloriously human lives of the mortals below, especially those of the great warrior Atalanta and her ill-fated lover, Meleager.
However, being a Goddess of Fate doesn't make you a master of it. Will these three sisters find a way to free the couple, and themselves, from their destinies? Or will they be bound by Fate forever?

Critics Review
-
A clever, twisting, turning story of the three Fates - not a trio of bitter, withered hags who cruelly preside over human lives but as fierce and determined sisters in battle against the vicious gods of Olympus. I absolutely believed this novel, and the brilliant way in which the story of Atalanta and Meleager became the fight for human destiny and the future of mortals. The ending - like the rest of the novel - is truly sublime, and becomes a reflection on free will and fate, on women's voices and the power of myth that spoke to me on so many levels. This is a really thrilling and totally original story of Greek mythology that I cannot recommend highly enough!

Lyrical, imaginative, visceral, urgent, moving, adventurous. Rose Blythe brings The Fates startlingly back to life. This is how the ancient Greeks would have known The Fates - and their own fates

This is a gorgeous novel. Amidst the now formidable number of feminist mythological retellings, The Fates is a clear stand-out. The prose is truly lyrical and immersive. The characters - mortal and divine - are beautifully drawn. And as for the plot twist... I doubt any readers will see this one coming! For lovers of reimaginings of Greek myths, The Fates is a must-buy
Mark Knowles, author of ARGO

The Fates is beautifully written and conceived. The storytelling is effortless, yet fiercely and satisfyingly feminist. A gorgeous read!

A mesmerising blend of mythology and modernity speaking "the mother tongue." A tale, capturing the heart in a world where we are lost.
