Andy McDermott

Andy McDermott is a British author of action-adventure thrillers whose Eddie Chase and Nina Wilde series delivers globe-trotting archaeological adventures packed with explosions, chases, and ancient mysteries. His novels are unashamedly entertaining and have been compared to the Indiana Jones films for their blend of history, humour, and non-stop action. Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, McDermott worked as a journalist and magazine editor, including as a reviewer for the Empire film magazine, before turning to fiction. The Hunt for Atlantis (2007) was his debut, introducing Eddie Chase, a tough, wisecracking former SAS soldier, and Nina Wilde, a brilliant American archaeologist who believes she can find the lost city of Atlantis. Together they embark on a series of adventures spanning ancient civilisations and modern conspiracies. The Covenant of Genesis and subsequent novels continue the series, taking Eddie and Nina around the world in search of legendary artefacts and lost civilisations. McDermott has published over fifteen novels in the series, each delivering a fast-paced adventure that combines real archaeology, historical mysteries, and cinematic action sequences. His plots are inventive, his action scenes are vivid and expertly choreographed, and his central partnership between the cerebral Nina and the streetwise Eddie provides both romantic tension and comic relief. He writes with the pace of a blockbuster film and the enthusiasm of someone who genuinely loves adventure, history, and the idea that there are still mysteries to be discovered. The audiobook editions of McDermott's novels are hugely entertaining, with narrators capturing the pace and humour of his storytelling. His books and audiobooks are essential for adventure fans who love archaeological mysteries, globe-trotting action, and thrillers that never slow down.
