Barry Took

Barry Took (1928–2002) was a British comedy writer, performer, and broadcaster who was one of the most important figures in British comedy during the twentieth century. He co-wrote Round the Horne with Marty Feldman and was instrumental in shaping British broadcast comedy. The Bona World of Julian & Sandy celebrates the beloved characters of Julian and Sandy — the camp duo played by Hugh Paddick and Kenneth Williams on Round the Horne — whose Polari-speaking sketches were among the most daring and subversive comedy of the 1960s. The audiobook and audio versions offer listeners a celebration of groundbreaking British comedy. Took's work appeals to fans of classic radio comedy, LGBTQ+ cultural history, and anyone who appreciates comedy that was both brilliantly funny and quietly revolutionary.
