Carl Rogers (1902–1987) was an American psychologist who was one of the founders of the humanistic approach to psychology and one of the most influential psychotherapists of the twentieth century. He developed client-centred therapy (now often called person-centred therapy), which emphasises empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness as the core conditions for therapeutic change. Client Centered Therapy is his foundational text, which transformed how therapy is practised worldwide. His audiobooks and books remain essential reading and listening for psychologists, counsellors, and anyone interested in understanding the therapeutic relationship and human potential.
