Charlaine Harris is an American author best known for the Sookie Stackhouse series, which was adapted into the HBO television series True Blood. Born in Tunica, Mississippi, in 1951, she grew up in the Mississippi River Delta and studied English and Communication Arts at Rhodes College in Memphis.
Harris has published over forty novels across mystery, urban fantasy, and science fiction. The Sookie Stackhouse series (thirteen novels) follows a telepathic waitress in small-town Louisiana who becomes entangled in the world of vampires after they 'come out of the coffin.' Her Aurora Teagarden mystery series features a librarian and true crime enthusiast who solves murders in her Georgia hometown — A Bone to Pick is the second in this long-running cosy mystery series. She has also written the Midnight, Texas trilogy and the Gunnie Rose series.
