Dambisa Moyo is a Zambian-born economist, author and global thinker who has served on the boards of major multinational corporations and been named one of Time magazine's one hundred most influential people in the world. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of Oxford and a master's from Harvard Kennedy School. Dead Aid is her provocative and widely debated first book, which argues that decades of Western development aid to Africa have not only failed to alleviate poverty but have actively harmed the continent by fostering dependency, corruption and economic distortion. Moyo makes the case for alternative approaches to economic development, including trade, foreign direct investment and capital markets. The book sparked intense debate among economists, policymakers and development practitioners worldwide. She has since written several more books on global economics, including Winner Take All and Edge of Chaos. Her audiobooks and books challenge conventional wisdom about global development with rigorous economic analysis and bold arguments.
