Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet who is regarded as one of the supreme poets of world literature. Born in Florence around 1265, he was a key figure in medieval Italian culture and politics before being exiled from his beloved city.
The Divine Comedy — comprising Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso — follows Dante on a journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. It is one of the greatest works of world literature, a poem of extraordinary scope that encompasses theology, philosophy, politics, and the full range of human experience. Inferno, the first part, describing the descent through the circles of Hell, remains the most widely read.
Dante died in 1321. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers one of the supreme achievements of human literature — a seven-hundred-year-old poem that still has the power to terrify, move, and illuminate.
