David Baddiel is a British comedian, television presenter, screenwriter, and author whose career has spanned stand-up comedy, sketch shows, football anthems, novels, and children's books across more than three decades. Born in Troy, New York in 1964 and raised in London, Baddiel studied English at King's College, Cambridge. He became famous in the early 1990s as one half of the comedy double act with Rob Newman, and then with Frank Skinner in Fantasy Football League and Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned. He co-wrote Three Lions (Football's Coming Home) with Skinner and the Lightning Seeds — one of the most iconic football songs ever written. His adult novels include Time for Bed, Whatever Love Means, The Secret Purposes, and The Death of Eli Gold. His children's books — including The Parent Agency, The Person Controller, AniMalcolm, Birthday Boy, and The Boy Who Got Accidentally Famous — have been hugely successful, bringing his trademark wit and inventiveness to younger readers. AniMalcolm follows a boy who hates animals but is magically transformed into various creatures during a school trip. Baddiel has also written acclaimed non-fiction, including Jews Don't Count, a passionate argument about antisemitism and identity politics that sparked significant public debate. His documentary work and social media presence have kept him relevant and provocative across changing media landscapes. The audiobook editions of Baddiel's books — many narrated by the author himself — are entertaining and engaging. His books and audiobooks are perfect for fans of smart comedy, children's fiction with real wit, and writing that makes you think and laugh.
