Derren Brown is a British mentalist, illusionist, author, and television performer whose shows have made him one of the most celebrated performers in the country. Born in Croydon in 1971, he studied Law and German at the University of Bristol, where he discovered hypnosis and began developing the psychological techniques that would define his career.
Brown's television specials and stage shows — including Something Wicked This Way Comes, Miracle, and Showman — combine psychological manipulation, suggestion, magic, and showmanship. His books include Tricks of the Mind, Happy, Confessions of a Conjuror, and A Book of Secrets, which explores the history and philosophy of secrecy, hidden knowledge, and the human desire to conceal and reveal. His writing brings the same intellectual curiosity and analytical rigour to the page that characterises his performances.
His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers fascinating explorations of the human mind from someone who has spent his career studying how easily our perceptions and beliefs can be manipulated — books that are as thought-provoking as his performances are astonishing.
