Dorothy L. Sayers (1893–1957) was a British crime writer, poet, playwright, and scholar, and one of the "Queens of Crime" of the golden age of detective fiction. She is best known for her novels featuring Lord Peter Wimsey, the aristocratic amateur detective whose investigations combine intellectual puzzle-solving with Sayers's characteristic wit, erudition, and social commentary. Her novels, including Gaudy Night, The Nine Tailors, and Strong Poison, are regarded as some of the finest detective fiction ever written. Beyond crime fiction, Sayers was a distinguished translator of Dante and a theological essayist. Her audiobooks and books remain beloved by mystery fans and literary readers alike.
