E.C. Bentley was a British journalist and author who invented the modern detective novel as we know it. Born in 1875, he created the gentleman detective Philip Trent in Trent's Last Case, which is regarded as a landmark in the history of crime fiction.
Trent Intervenes is a collection of Philip Trent short stories โ witty, elegant detective fiction featuring one of the genre's most appealing sleuths. Bentley was also the inventor of the clerihew, a form of comic biographical verse.
Bentley died in 1956. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers elegant, witty classic detective fiction โ the work of the writer who helped invent the modern mystery.
