James Frey is an American author and entrepreneur best known for A Million Little Pieces, published in 2003 as a memoir of addiction and recovery. The book became a massive bestseller after being selected for Oprah's Book Club, but later became the centre of a major controversy when it was revealed that Frey had fabricated or embellished significant portions of the story. Despite the scandal, the audiobook and book remain compelling accounts of addiction, and the controversy itself became a defining moment in the debate about truth in memoir.
