Jeffery Deaver is one of America's most successful thriller writers, an international bestselling author whose intricate, twist-laden novels have sold over fifty million copies worldwide and been translated into twenty-five languages. Born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, in 1950, he studied Journalism at the University of Missouri and earned a law degree from Fordham University, practising law before becoming a full-time writer.
Deaver is best known for his Lincoln Rhyme series, featuring a quadriplegic forensic criminologist who solves crimes from his bed using only his mind. The first book, The Bone Collector, was adapted into a major film starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. He has also written the Kathryn Dance series, the Colter Shaw series, and numerous standalone thrillers. His novels, including Captivated, are celebrated for their meticulous research, labyrinthine plotting, and trademark final twists — often featuring multiple reversals in the closing chapters.
Deaver has won numerous awards including the Steel Dagger and multiple Thriller Award nominations. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers fiendishly plotted crime fiction where nothing is ever as it seems and the final pages always deliver surprises.
