Jon Fosse is a Norwegian author, playwright, and poet who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2023. Born in 1959, he writes in Nynorsk (New Norwegian) and is one of the most performed living playwrights in the world.
A New Name is part of his Septology — a monumental seven-part novel widely regarded as his masterpiece. The work follows an ageing painter in western Norway in a meditative, hypnotic prose style that has been compared to Beckett and Bernhard. The Septology was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize.
His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers the hypnotic, luminous prose of a Nobel laureate — fiction that slows the world down and reveals what lies beneath the surface of ordinary life.
