Lafcadio Hearn (1850–1904) was a Greek-born, Irish-raised writer and journalist who became one of the most important Western interpreters of Japanese culture. After settling in Japan in 1890, he became a Japanese citizen under the name Koizumi Yakumo and wrote extensively about Japanese folklore, ghost stories and daily life. His books and audiobooks, including In Ghostly Japan, are masterful collections of supernatural tales drawn from Japanese tradition. Hearn's evocative, atmospheric writing continues to enchant readers and listeners more than a century after his death.
