M.P. Shiel was an Anglo-Irish author of science fiction, fantasy, and mystery whose work spanned the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The Purple Cloud is his most famous novel, a vivid, hallucinatory tale of a man who may be the last person alive on Earth. Shiel's audiobooks and books are celebrated as early masterpieces of apocalyptic fiction and have influenced generations of science fiction writers.
