Mary Roberts Rinehart

Mary Roberts Rinehart was an American author and journalist, often called "the American Agatha Christie," though her career actually predated Christie's. Born in 1876, she became one of the most popular and prolific mystery writers of the early twentieth century, pioneering the "Had-I-But-Known" school of mystery fiction. The After House is a gripping locked-room mystery set aboard a yacht at sea, showcasing Rinehart's talent for atmospheric suspense and clever plotting. Her novels were hugely influential in shaping the American mystery genre. She died in 1958. Her audiobooks and books continue to attract readers and listeners who appreciate classic mystery fiction from the genre's golden age.
