Michael Bond

Michael Bond was a British author who created Paddington Bear — one of the most beloved characters in children's literature. Born in Newbury, Berkshire, in 1926, he wrote the first Paddington story in 1958 after buying a small toy bear near Paddington Station. A Bear Called Paddington is the first book in the series — introducing the marmalade-loving bear from Darkest Peru who is adopted by the Brown family. Paddington has become a cultural icon, starring in a hugely successful film series, and the books have been translated into over 40 languages. Bond died in 2017. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers one of the most beloved characters in children's literature — the adventures of a small bear with a very big heart.
