Nnedi Okorafor

Nnedi Okofor is a Nigerian-American author of science fiction and fantasy whose Africanfuturist fiction has won the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy awards. Born in Cincinnati to Nigerian parents, she holds a PhD in English from the University of Illinois. Akata Warrior is the second book in her Nsibidi Scripts series — a young adult fantasy drawing on Nigerian mythology, following a Nigerian-American girl who discovers she has magical abilities and enters the world of the Leopard People. Okofor's fiction is celebrated for its original worldbuilding, its incorporation of West African mythology, and its joyful, unapologetic Africanness. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers visionary Africanfuturist fiction that expands the boundaries of science fiction and fantasy — stories rooted in Nigerian culture and soaring with imagination.
