Sarfraz Manzoor is a British journalist, author, broadcaster and screenwriter. Born in Pakistan, he grew up in Luton, England, and has written for the Guardian, the Observer and numerous other publications. He is known for his work exploring British Muslim identity, immigration and the power of music and culture to bridge divides.
Greetings from Bury Park is his memoir about growing up as a working-class Pakistani Muslim teenager in Luton who discovered Bruce Springsteen's music and found in it a mirror for his own experiences of alienation, aspiration and the desire to escape. The book was adapted into the critically acclaimed film Blinded by the Light, directed by Gurinder Chadha.
Available as both a book and an audiobook, Greetings from Bury Park offers joyful and moving listening and reading for music lovers, memoir fans and anyone who has ever found in a song the feeling that someone else understands exactly what they're going through.
