Sir Thomas More was an English lawyer, philosopher, statesman, and author who served as Lord Chancellor to King Henry VIII before being executed for refusing to acknowledge the king's supremacy over the Church of England. He was later canonised as a saint by the Catholic Church. Utopia, published in 1516, is his most famous work — a philosophical satire describing an ideal island society that has influenced political thought for over five hundred years. The word 'utopia' itself entered the English language through this book. His audiobooks and books remain essential listening and reading for anyone interested in political philosophy and the history of ideas.
