Ursula K. Le Guin was an American author whose visionary science fiction and fantasy have influenced generations of writers and readers. Born in Berkeley, California, in 1929, she studied at Radcliffe College and Columbia University. She won numerous Hugo, Nebula, and Locus awards. The Earthsea series — beginning with A Wizard of Earthsea — follows the wizard Ged through a beautifully imagined archipelago world, exploring themes of power, responsibility, balance, and identity. The Left Hand of Darkness imagines a planet where people have no fixed gender. Le Guin's fiction combines literary grace with profound philosophical and political engagement. Le Guin died in 2018. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers visionary speculative fiction from one of the greatest imaginations in literary history — fiction that expanded the boundaries of what stories can do.
