Alex Jennings

Alex Jennings CBE is one of Britain's most distinguished stage actors, with three Olivier Award wins — a rare achievement that places him among the most honoured performers in British theatre history. Born in Essex and trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Jennings has built a career of extraordinary range. On stage, his Olivier-winning performances include My Fair Lady (as Henry Higgins), The Importance of Being Earnest, and Hymn. He has been a stalwart of the National Theatre and has performed extensively with the RSC, moving between comedy, drama, musical theatre, and classical work with ease. On screen, Jennings is perhaps best known for playing Prince Charles in the Netflix series The Crown (Seasons 1 and 2) and the Duke of Windsor in The Queen starring Helen Mirren. His other credits include Cranford, Victoria, Unforgotten, and The Lady in the Van. As an audiobook narrator, Jennings brings the precision and versatility of a classical actor to every recording. His command of accent, register, and tone allows him to differentiate large casts of characters with apparent ease. He has narrated literary fiction, historical novels, and classic literature, with performances consistently praised for their intelligence and subtlety. He was appointed CBE in 2017 for services to drama. He is also a gifted singer, which gives his narration an unusually musical quality and sensitivity to rhythm and cadence.
