Alexei Sayle

Alexei Sayle is a British comedian, actor, and author who was one of the pioneers of alternative comedy in the early 1980s. Born in Liverpool in 1952 to communist parents, he was the first act to appear on The Young Ones and has been a major figure in British comedy for over four decades. Alexei Sayle's Imaginary Sandwich Bar is his BBC Radio 4 comedy series — a characteristically anarchic, funny, and unpredictable mix of stand-up, storytelling, and surreal comedy. Sayle has also written acclaimed novels and short story collections. His audiobooks and audio recordings offer listeners the sharp, surreal wit of one of British comedy's true originals — comedy that is as intelligent as it is anarchic.
