Sir Ben Kingsley is a British actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in Richard Attenborough's 1982 film Gandhi. Born Krishna Pandit Bhanji in Scarborough, Yorkshire in 1943, he has appeared in over a hundred films, including Schindler's List, Sexy Beast, House of Sand and Fog, Hugo, and the Iron Man franchise. He was knighted in 2002 for services to the British film industry.
