Fiona Mitchell

Fiona Mitchell is a British author and journalist whose fiction explores the lives of women working abroad, often in roles of domestic service. The Maid's Room is a novel set in Singapore, where the lives of expatriate women and their domestic helpers intersect, collide, and illuminate the vast inequalities that structure daily life. Mitchell's writing is sharp, compassionate, and attentive to the power dynamics that shape relationships between women of different classes and nationalities. Her storytelling gives voice to characters who are often invisible in the communities they serve. The audiobook and book versions offer listeners and readers a compelling, socially aware novel. Mitchell's work appeals to fans of contemporary fiction set in international contexts and anyone interested in the hidden lives and experiences of domestic workers around the world.
