Olivia Colman

Olivia Colman CBE is one of the most acclaimed and beloved British actresses of her generation, whose career has taken her from comedy sketch shows to an Academy Award. Born in Norwich, she trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and initially struggled to find work before her talent was recognised. Colman first became a household name through comedy — Peep Show, That Mitchell and Webb Look, and Rev. She then demonstrated her dramatic range with Broadchurch (as DS Ellie Miller), The Night Manager, and Fleabag. Her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown won her an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Her Oscar came for The Favourite in 2019, playing Queen Anne in a performance of extraordinary emotional complexity. Her other film credits include Tyrannosaur, The Iron Lady, The Father, The Lost Daughter, and Empire of Light. Colman is known for her ability to move between comedy and devastating drama, often within the same scene. Her emotional transparency — the way her face and voice convey layers of feeling simultaneously — is unmatched. As an audiobook narrator, Colman brings that same emotional richness. Her voice is warm, expressive, and instantly recognisable, with a quality of genuine human connection that makes listeners feel they are being spoken to directly. She can handle comedy with perfect timing and drama with absolute sincerity. She was appointed CBE in 2019 for services to drama. For listeners who appreciate narration that is warm, emotionally honest, and delivered by one of the finest actresses alive, Olivia Colman is exceptional.
