What to expect
However, Astrid never planned on Jordan Everwood, lead carpenter for the renovation. Jordan is determined to preserve the history of her family's inn, particularly as the rest of her life is in shambles. When that determination turns into some light sabotage to ruffle Astrid's perfect little feathers, the showrunners ask them to play up the tension. But somewhere along the way, their dislike for each other evolves into something quite different . . . It's time for Astrid to decide if she's going to pursue the life that she's expected to lead or the one that she really wants?

Ashley Herring Blake knocks it out of the park again with a rivals-to-lovers story with a big beating heart! She has a knack for writing characters who feel like they could be your friends - flawed women with complex inner lives who leap off the page with personality. I wanted to give Astrid a giant hug; I wanted to give Jordan my number. Bright Falls is a world I want to live in, and I can't wait to return to!

Fabulous follow on from Delilah Green doesn’t care. Better written and better plot, amazing character development and just as raunchy Lesbian / Bi book.
But you do need to have read or listened to the Delilah Green book first so one star off.
The narration is excellent and brings the story to life. How Kristen keeps the narration going through the sex scenes is beyond my comprehension.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.VRS 2025-10-08 -

Lovely read, very swoon-tastic! Perhaps not quite as good as the first, but still lovely

I really enjoyed this book and found the relationship between Astrid and Jordan to be captivating. I did struggle with one aspect of the story. It felt like rather than writing to be inclusive, things were included to say the author had ticked a box. Which was disappointing. Overall it was enjoyable and I’d recommend it. Kristen Dimercurio was absolutely fabulous. I love listening to her perform the story and will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of her work.

Synopsis
For Astrid Parker, failure is unacceptable. Ever since she broke up with her fiancé a year ago, she's been focused on her career. So when she's asked to be the designer for the Everwood Inn's renovation (to be featured on a hugely popular home makeover show!) Astrid is thrilled. Not only will the project be the perfect distraction, but her perpetually displeased mother might finally give her a nod of approval. But somewhere along the way, their dislike for each other evolves into something quite different . . .
