What to expect
In Year Three, earrings are everything. Shiny gold stars, diamond studs, dangly rainbows, buzzy bees. Almost everyone’s got them. Everyone except Mavey, that is.
Mavey’s twin sister, Beth, says it’s time to join the pierced ear club. Her best friend Woody says earrings are totally silly. And Mum? She just says it’s Mavey’s choice. But if she wants to fit in, Mavey must face the ultimate horror. A Giant. Crunching. Piercing. Gun. Gulp.
When Operation Ear Piercing ends in full-blown chaos, Mavey’s left to untangle a mess of pros, cons, sparkles, and self-doubt.
Fit in?
Stand out?
Studs or no studs?
Can Mavey figure it out before the whole school finds out the hole truth? A hilarious and heartfelt story about glitter, guts, and growing up.
Critics Review
-
“A funny, pacy tale of one girl’s dilemma over whether to be just like everyone else. A cracking story of schoolyard life that kids and grown-ups will adore.”
Ash Harrier, author of the Alice England series
