An interesting premise akin to The Magicians, with a promising world to explore. Unfortunately the characters are all insufferably immature and selfish. The plot is aimless and reads like a connected series of events rather than a cohesive narrative. And beyond the bickering of characters, we never get to explore the wider setting hinted at by the author.
Finally, the narration is a trainwreck. Most of the narrators do a serviceable job, even though the audio quality varies between actors. And would it have killed the producers to have the actors exchange notes on characterisation? It comes across as amateur and cheap when the same character exhibits a wide range of regional accents when narrated by different person.

Mind numbingly boring, just awful. I should have known when I couldn't find a review. But this is terrible. How many times do a group of diverse people come together. But it's so slow and boring. I just gave up. 😡😡😡😡😡

I hoped to enjoy this much more than I did, due to it being heavily pushed by its publishers and seen everywhere. It was a good premise and interesting lay out.
I didn’t get too far through to be honest, before falling off this. I’m sure it gets better- most things do. But I didn’t love the characters or plot enough to continue.Glazael 2023-12-27
